If you want to delay, skip or put on hold your next World of Warcraft subscription payment, you can pause it on the Battle.net Account Settings. Pausing your WoW subscription will not pause or freeze your currently active game time on your WoW account, but will allow you to move the next subscription renewal and billing date. You can resume or fully cancel your subscription at any time.

Pausing your Next Subscription Payment

You can pause your subscription for a minimum of one month and a maximum of six months.

To pause your next subscription payment:

  1. Log in to your Games & Subscriptions page
  2. Click Manage next to the WoW account you want to pause your subscription on
  3. Click Pause Next Payment
    • If this option is not present, it means you do not have an active subscription on this WoW account

Note: A WoW account with an Active status does not indicate the presence of the active subscription. The WoW account may be Active due to active game time on the account.

After pausing your next payment:

  • Game time currently active on your WoW account will not be paused
  • Your WoW account will remain playable and in Active status until your current game time expires
    • The status of your subscription will then change to Paused until the subscription is resumed or cancelled
    • Inactive WoW accounts with a paused subscription are subject to Starter Edition Limitations
  • You will not be billed for your subscription until your pause expires or the subscription is resumed
  • You can't extend duration of the pause, only resume or cancel your subscription

During the pause:

  • You can update your payment method
  • You can add game time from the Battle.net shop, WoW tokens, expansion bundles, or other sources
    • Doing so will not affect the pause, but will move your next subscription payment to when your total remaining game time runs out if it overlaps with the previously planned resume date
  • Changing your subscription plan will remove the pause and reactivate your subscription
  • Subscription bundle purchases will remove the pause and reactivate your subscription

Resuming Subscription

To resume your previously paused subscription:

  1. Log in to your Games & Subscriptions page
  2. Click Manage next to the WoW account you want to resume your subscription on
  3. Click Resume Subscription
    • If this option is not present, it means you do not have a subscription on this WoW account, or the subscription is already active

After resuming your subscription:

  • If your WoW account is Active, your next billing date will default to the day your current game time expires
  • If your WoW account is Paused, you will be billed immediately on your saved payment method
  • If payment fails, the WoW account will be in a Failed Payment status
    • You can then update your payment method to try to resume the subscription again
