Common Problems
I want to make sure my account is safe from hackers.
Secure your email account
Contact your email provider and utilize their provided tools, such as two factor authentication, to secure your email account. Securing your email account is the first line of defense for protecting a Battle.net account that was created using that email.
Use a strong and unique password
- A strong password uses a mix of numbers, letters, and symbols.
- You can use a phrase made up of multiple words—it's easier for you to remember, and harder for others to guess.
- Password managers can be helpful generating and storing more complex and secure passwords.
- Don't use this password for any other accounts.
- Most importantly, never share your password with anyone!
Add an Authenticator
Two-step verification makes it extremely difficult for hackers to access your account, and you get some neat in-game items after adding one! Read the Battle.net Authenticator article for more information.
Note: Add a phone number to your account. Battle.net Phone Notifications can help you recover access to your account if you ever have problems with your authenticator. Additionally, SMS notifications can be enabled through your account's Communication Preferences to alert you to any account changes.
ADD AUTHENTICATOR
Add a passkey
Passkeys are an alternate login method to traditional passwords that are connected to and stored securely on your device. When logging into your Battle.net account, you will first enter your email address or phone number in order to identify your account, then if you have a passkey set up, you can enter it instead of a password to login.
Secure your computer
- Scan your computer for malware, keyloggers, and viruses. Check out our Security Software page for more information.
- Keep your operating system up to date. Your computer is less secure if you're missing critical security updates.
Friends and family
If you share a computer or home with other people, take these precautions:
- Log out of your account or lock the computer every time you step away from the computer.
- Do not let your friends or family know your password or the location of your authenticator.
- Consider adding parental controls to your account to control in-game purchases and when and/or how long anyone can log in to play games on your account.
